Corporate Overview barometer_admin 2017-07-26T09:34:02+00:00

At Barometer, we have a proven track record of generating strong returns in constructive market environments, as well as the willingness to take defensive measures when market conditions become more challenged.

Designed to be relevant, our investment process, the Disciplined Leadership Approach™, ensures that we have an investment thesis that reflects the prevailing market backdrop, not forecasts or conjectures.

Who We Are

Barometer Management (Ireland) Limited was formed in May 2015, and was approved as the manager of the Barometer UCITS Fund ICAV (the “Manager”) on October 22, 2015, under the approval of the Central Bank of Ireland. The Manager’s principal business is the provision of fund management services to collective investment schemes. The Manager has delegated the performance of its discretionary investment management and distribution functions in respect of the ICAV and each fund to Barometer Capital Management Inc. (“Barometer”), and administrative functions to Maples Fund Services (Ireland) Limited (the “Administrator”). And, the Manager has appointed Société Générale S.A., Dublin Branch, to act as depositary in respect of the ICAV and each of its funds.

As investment manager, Barometer has been provided with discretionary powers pursuant to an investment management agreement, dated December 30, 2015. Under the terms of the investment management agreement Barometer is responsible, subject to the overall supervision and control of the Manager, for managing the assets and investments of the ICAV in accordance with the investment objective and policies of each fund under the ICAV. Barometer also acts as promoter and distributor of shares in each fund under the ICAV with authority to delegate some or all of its duties as distributor to sub-distributors in accordance with the Central Bank Rules.

Based in Toronto, Canada, Barometer was established in 2001 to focus on the exclusive needs of the high-net-worth private investor. Its founding partners, David Burrows, Gregory Guichon and Roy Scaini, had already established careers in helping families manage their wealth and came together in 2006 to create a unique platform in response to what they observed as an increasingly institutionalized approach to portfolio management. Today the firm provides discretionary wealth management services to over 400 high-net-worth families in Canada and the United States.

Barometer is a corporation organised under the laws of Canada and is regulated by its principal regulator, the Ontario Securities Commission, in the conduct of investment management activities. Barometer is also registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser. As at December 31 2016, Barometer had approximately 2.1 billion Canadian dollars in assets under management.
